Paper & object puppetry, drawing, performance art.
Inspiration from a poem by Birago Diop “Les souffles”.
Puppetry and improvisation with paper in a minimal set.
The Senegalese poet called this poem “Breaths” to describe a person's space. All beings everywhere overflow the place where they are, surpass their specific location, have more to them than their body. Only a single side of a person is ever visible, while the other remains invisible. Looked at in this way, the beyond is less a metaphysical notion than something rooted in tangible reality, its soul, energy and Breath.

“ Listen more to Things
than to words that are said. The voice of Fire can be heard Listen to the Voice of Water Listen in the Wind To the sobbing bushes. It is the Breath of the Dead, Who have not departed Who are not beneath the Earth Who are not dead.” English (translated) extract |
“Ecoutes plus souvent
les choses que les êtres. La voix du feu s'entend, entends la voix de l'eau écoute dans le vent le buisson en sanglots. C’est le Souffle des Ancêtres morts, Qui ne sont pas partis Qui ne sont pas sous la Terre Qui ne sont pas morts.” French (original) extrait |
